THE SKATEBOARDING BOTANIST
How's it going guys.
In late 2016, I decided to start my new YouTube channel; The skateboarding botanist. The origins of my channel idea come from my keen interest in board sports. I have skateboarded and surfed for most of my life and have also dabbled in snowboarding, wake boarding and windsurfing, just to name a few, I am pretty much addicted to the feeling of travelling at speed with a board under my feet.
In early 2015, my very first E-board or electric skateboard was delivered which gave me the sensation of surfing and skateboarding at the same time. I could carve up any terrain at high speed without ever needing to put my foot on the ground! It was love at first sight!
E-boards have come a long way in the last 5 years and i not ride an Evolve carbon GT; one of the fastest, sleekest and sexiest eboards on the market, made here in AUS.
Lately, I've taken to making videos of my cruises around town with my GoPro. I get a real kick out of filming and editing and it is leading to a budding passion for photography and film making.
NOW, some of you might be wondering where the "botanist" component comes in with the channel name. Well board sports are not my only passion. I have another great love in my life. PLANTS!
Anyone who knows me knows i'm a bit of a hippy at heart. I have loved and appreciated nature and the living world my entire life. David Attenborough pretty much raised me as i watched every single, solitary doco he ever released with great relish, even as a 7 year old. Interacting with plants bring great joy, calmness and balance to my life. If I don't go on my monthly bush walk somewhere, my brain starts to short-circuit a little bit..
SO, where am I going with all of this?
Well, the idea behind my new channel is that I merge my two most prominent passions (Board-riding and plant-loving)
I'm going to be shooting and editing my footage of travels around town on the E-board, with dope background music of course and at the same time, coming across plants and tree of interest and nerding out about them in front of the camera for your knowledge and entertainment.
The idea is that I give back to you guys, everything that plants and nature have given to me. if I could just infuse one person with the same enthusiasm that I have for plants and nature, this will all be worth it.
Also, look forward to horticulture-related how-to's and tutorials, interviews, discussions, VLOGS and much more.
